You don’t stop being a Christian when you walk into the office. So why should your faith stop influencing the way you lead? For many Christian business leaders, that tension is familiar. You want your faith to shape your decisions, relationships, culture, and priorities, but leading a business also comes with very practical questions about people, growth, strategy, finances, and the future.

C12 brings those two sides of leadership into the same conversation. C12 is a Christian peer advisory organization for CEOs, business owners, and executives who meet in small, confidential groups to discuss real challenges, learn from experienced peers, and apply biblical principles to the work of leading an organization.

C12 Greater Detroit gives Christian leaders a place to have those conversations with people who understand both the responsibility of running a business and the desire to honor God through it.

How Does C12 Work?

At its core, C12 is a peer advisory group of Christian business leaders that meets regularly to talk about the challenges that come with leading an organization. Members bring real situations to the table and draw on the experience of people who have faced similar decisions.

A typical C12 business forum includes:

  • Peer discussion and advice from leaders outside your organization and industry
  • Business and leadership development focused on practical application
  • Biblical principles that inform conversations about leadership and business
  • Accountability around specific goals and commitments
  • Confidential conversation among non-competing business leaders

The group is facilitated by a C12 Chair, who also meets individually with members between monthly forums. These one-on-one FOCUS60 meetings give members dedicated time to talk through whatever is most pressing, from a management challenge to a strategic decision or a personal concern.

Many leaders don’t have a room full of people who understand the weight of making decisions that affect employees, customers, finances, families, and the future of a company.

What Happens at a C12 Meeting?

C12 forums are designed to give leaders time to step away from the daily demands of running a business and work on the business instead of spending every hour working in it.

A monthly forum typically includes biblical leadership discussion, a practical business topic, member presentations, peer advice, accountability, and prayer. Members also have time to build relationships with one another.

The conversations are grounded in real life. A member might bring questions about:

  • Hiring, developing, or managing employees
  • Company culture and organizational health
  • Strategic planning and execution
  • Growth and business development
  • Financial or operational challenges
  • Succession planning
  • A difficult leadership decision
  • Balancing business responsibilities with faith and family

Members also have opportunities to present a comprehensive view of their business through a Core Business Presentation. The forum then provides questions, observations, and feedback to help the member identify opportunities, blind spots, and next steps.

Confidentiality is a key part of that process. C12 forums do not place direct competitors in the same group, and members agree to keep conversations confidential. That gives leaders room to speak candidly about situations they may not feel comfortable discussing elsewhere.

What Role Does Faith Play in C12?

C12 is distinctly Christian, but that doesn’t mean every meeting is simply a Bible study. Instead, biblical principles become part of the way members think through business and leadership. Conversations can touch on stewardship, integrity, character, relationships, decision-making, purpose, and the way a business serves its employees, customers, and community.

C12 describes this as business as ministry: recognizing that a Christian leader’s influence extends into the workplace and that faith can shape the way the business is led.

For a Christian leader, that can mean asking different questions when making a difficult decision, including:

  • How should I treat this employee?
  • What kind of culture am I building?
  • What does responsible stewardship look like here?
  • How can this company serve people well?

Faith isn’t set aside when the workday begins and instead becomes part of the leadership conversation.

C12 vs. a Business Networking Group or Bible Study

If you’ve participated in other professional or faith-based groups, you may be wondering how C12 is different.

C12 vs. traditional networking

Networking groups are often built around relationships, referrals, and business development. C12 is centered on peer growth, leadership, accountability, and shared Christian conviction. Members are there to help one another become better leaders and build healthier businesses and not to exchange contacts or generate leads.

C12 vs. a Bible study

A Bible study typically centers on studying Scripture and growing spiritually. C12 brings biblical principles into conversations about business decisions, organizational challenges, leadership, and the responsibilities that come with running a company.

C12 can also complement the other relationships in your life. It doesn’t have to replace your church community, professional network, or other leadership resources.

Who Is C12 For?

C12 Greater Detroit is designed for Christian CEOs, business owners, founders, presidents, general managers, and other senior leaders who want to grow as leaders while integrating their faith into the way they run their organizations.

The Greater Detroit chapter generally serves established, growing companies, with membership guidelines that typically include businesses with more than $2 million in annual revenue and seven or more employees. Leaders who fall outside those guidelines but believe C12 could be a fit are encouraged to start a conversation.

The strongest fit is often a leader who:

  • Wants to apply biblical principles to real business decisions
  • Values honest feedback from experienced peers
  • Wants greater accountability
  • Is navigating meaningful business or organizational challenges
  • Wants relationships with other Christian leaders who understand the realities of senior leadership
  • Is willing to contribute experience, questions, ideas, and advice to the group

C12 isn’t designed to be another meeting to add to an already crowded calendar. The goal is to give leaders dedicated time to step back, think strategically, learn from peers, and put good ideas into practice.

Is C12 Right for You?

Running a business can be rewarding, but leadership can also be isolating. You may have employees who look to you for answers, partners who need decisions, and a family that needs your attention. Finding people who can understand the full picture isn’t always easy.

C12 Greater Detroit gives Christian business leaders a place to have those conversations with peers who understand the responsibility of leadership and want to see one another succeed.
